Broadway comes to Al Ain

Ambassador Satch, a world premier musical portrait of jazz legend Louis Armstrong, will be coming to the Garden City of Al Ain from the 14th – 19th of April 2008 as guests of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and the UAE University (UAEU).
The show has been playing to sell-out crowds for the past 8 years. Featuring co-writer André De Shields as Louis, a first class five piece jazz band directed by Terry Waldo and a powerhouse female vocalist, Harriett D. Go-Karts coming to Al Ain

Living in Al Ain just got a whole lot more interesting. Well, not quite yet, but will be pretty soon. Go Karting is coming to town!

Confidence in Human Resources

During my stay here in the UAE, I have met a fair share of incompetence when dealing with some companies –as I’m sure many of you have. Some staffers are so myopic you would be better off dealing with an automated machine. Throw in ego-centric managers and you’ll be pulling your hair out.
It is wise to lower expectations so as not to be disappointed and on occasion, get pleasantly surprised....More

AL Ain Animal Friends (AAAF)

Sometime last week, AAAF put an ad out in Al Ain Times looking for volunteers. Among the duties they needed volunteer work on was maintaining and updating the website. Here was an opportunity for me to help their cause without dealing directly with the pets. Inasmuch as I love animals, I can not keep any (long story)....More

Al Ain Rugby Club

Walking through the corridors and onto the stands, I was holding back the feeling of nostalgia as I recalled my beloved club back home. I also couldn’t help but notice the pride in Steve Annot’s (chairman AARC) voice as he explained how the field will look once completed.
“Al Ain Rugby Club is God sent” I whispered to myself, only to turn around and Steve and my fiancé, Catherine, were walking round a bend and disappearing down some steps. Turns out I was caught up taking photos that I didn’t hear them decide to move to the pool and gym area....More
